Dear Friends:
I have read Ms. Farzana Hassan’s posting on
Foth. As an Islamic scholar, she has of course, beautifully phrased
her opinion but it is very puzzling. Why?
She writes the following; quote:
“Quran does not mandate the hijab, nor does it prescribe a
punishment for those who choose not to wear it”.
She is using Quran as the yard-stick on hijab-issue. If I understand
correctly, Quranic is the arbiter on social issues for her. If so,
how does she chose to ignore Quran when she speaks against “Shariah-Law”?
May be this is precisely the intellectual malady of Muslims in DNA
age. They argue from Quran when suitable and conveniently chose to
let it go when it does not fit them. I call it “Principle of
Convenient Use of Koran” that I had pointed out in my first write-up
too.
Dear Muslim friends:
Please wake up. Muslims don’t need dogmatic teaching of mullah or
convenient rationalization of liberals. Intellectual clarity is what
Muslims need and it will go a long way for them.
I’ll be away for next few days … so long.
