“Islam as
a religion per se cannot be blamed for Aqsa's death.”
True. Any religion can not
be blamed for any criminal act for the believer. It should be
clearly stated that, here, the religion stands ONLY for an
individual’s relation with his God or any Divinity. The religion is
considered a source of knowledge and guidance. A believer is free to
act according to his own understanding of the lessons he obtains
from the source. The source (religion) can not be blamed if he acts
negatively or positively. If he/she fails the religion can not be
blamed and if he/she succeeds the religion does not get any credit.
This is a rational consideration of a religion.
Presently, in this
discussion, we are talking of Islam. Islam is not only man/woman –
God relation but it includes man/woman – man/woman and also
man/woman – society relations. For any Believer of Islam (Muslim),
it is complete code of life. When a baby is born there are certain
Islamic rituals to be observed and when a Muslim dies there are
certain particular religious instructions to bury him/her. Islam
takes care of a Muslim from cradle to grave. Islam never leaves you
(Believer) alone. In your kitchen Islam is there. In your bedroom
Islam accompanies you and even in your bathroom you are not free to
accommodate yourself as you wish.
Every Muslim has a Blind
Faith in Absolute Truth of the Scripture. The Holy Book is True,
Eternal and Universal. A Muslim is a complete slave of Allaah and he
is bound to accommodate his life according to the teachings of the
Holy Book.
Under these conditions, if
the women are treated as second class citizens in Muslim countries,
it is Islam to be blamed. If a husband is correcting his wife for
some mischief, he is strictly following the teachings of Islam.
There are plenty of other examples.
In case of Hijab (covering
head and hair), Mr. Mubashir Inayet has given Quranic references in
his comments. It can be rightly concluded that Mohammad Pervez, the
father of Aqsa was following the guidance of the Holy Book for the
recommendation of Hijab and thus Islam has the partial
responsibility in the imposition of Hijab to Aqsa by her father. Of
course the criminal act of killing is entirely his responsibility
Islam did not kill Aqsa but
certainly it prepared the ground.
