Dear
Haider Sahib,
To my knowledge, the women who was
sentenced to 200 lashes was eventually pardoned. But, you do make a
valid point of an extremist society (controlled by an autocratic
ruling family). But that does not and cannot negate the point that
Rubina Sahiba has tried to make. She is quite right about the
Western Press. The underground or the militia fighting against the
invaders in Iraq and Afghanistan are called the insurgents or the
terrorists. Imagine, if the US or Britain were under attack, would
the ordinary citizens fighting for their country be called as
rebels, insurgents or terrorists?
Your (valid) point does not diminish
or invalidate in any way the point Ms. Rubina has made.
Regards,
Javed I. Chaudry
