I applaud your intentions of being part of the solution and not the problem. It's just that if you keep referring to the  such laws as "Afghani" sharia law in spite of your claim of being fully aware of what transpired in last 14 centuries, your identification of the problem would be wrong in my opinion. The solution that you want be part of would be solving an imaginary problem ignoring the real one. You are not the first one who has embarked on this journey. Many before you have tried to show the face of “true” and “rational” Islam in past 1000 years but their thoughts have proven to have no shelf life at all. Maududis and Abu-Hanifas will always be hands-down winners in this battle of ideas because religion has a highly efficient built-in mechanism to filter all rational thoughts out of it in a very short term.
