Abul Kalam Azad was President of the All India
Congress for six years (1940-1946) and in that
capacity he passionately negotiated with the
Cabinet Mission to keep India united, as he
detailed in his book ‘India Wins Freedom’.
A father is not insensitive if he refuses to
give a toy to his toddler that he
considers harmful to his safety. That father was
Abul Kalam Azad, the toddler was Indian Muslim
and the dangerous toy was Pakistan. For his
opposition to Pakistan he was called a
mouthpiece of Gandhiji, sold out to Hindus and a
“show Boy”. However, history has proved that he
was right. This prophetic interview of Maulana given in
1946 deserves to be circulated among your FOTH
readers. Some of them still believe that
Pakistan was a good idea except that it was
mismanaged.
