Dear Abdul
Mutaal and Family of the Heart:
In the 21st century, you say, "prevalent
literal interpretation of religion as well as pseudo-mysticism or
pseudo-spirituality has no role in building our futures." Almost
in the same breath you say, "At the same time, I cannot reject
the genuine achievements of true religionists, genuine mystics and
authentic spiritualists."
That,
you appear to be saying, is "the
fundamental point of difference we've
at this forum and everyone's
entitled to their opinion and is at liberty to propagate their ideas"
by
way of "thesis, antithesis
and synthesis"
in the spirit of dialogue.
What you're saying is fair; what you
fail to understand, however, is that we've come a long way in the
spirit of dialogue to a juncture where we need to do away with relics
of the past or where we need to critically re-examine our
cultural attachment to the relics in our traditional album.
When we haven't experienced fraternal
peace or personal emancipation in the past five thousand years, what's
the point of persisting with Judaism, Christianity or Islam, et al, when
we know they have failed, and failed so miserably, throughout all the
centuries under the Eye of God.
The circus of religion, spirituality
and mysticism is worth examining by way of thesis, antithesis and
synthesis. Sometimes we're set free by what we learn by osmosis -- and
sometimes when we come upon the truth.
