You have asked for a
scriptural reference for "Scriptures remind us
that we were created in the image and likeness of [.
. .] God." It
should be clear to any discerning reader that the word
'Scriptures' may refer to any of the 'revealed' books
or the entire corpus of Judeo-Christian-Muslim
literature. To answer your question, my reference is
from the first book of the Bible, Genesis, chapter 1,
verse 26: "And God went on to say, 'Let us make man in
our image, according to our likeness."
Verse
27 reads: "And God proceeded to create the man in his
image, in God's image he created him, male and female
he created them."
Of
course there's no Koranic reference that says the same
thing, literally word for word, but then both the
Torah and the Bible predate the Koran, and the story
in all three books is the same, about the same God and
the same characters which He brought to life.
I
hope that satisfies your curiosity.
