Ziauddin Ahmed |
The interest in
God and religion has once again been revived in
recent years. The reasons for it are well known to
most of us. It is not that the world has suddenly
become God fearing or God loving, it is perhaps more
a desire for recognition and finding a place and
need for religion and spiritual belief in the
development of the present human psyche.

The
subject of today’s discussion is very complex
and multi-faceted, often not fully understood.
Even when many feel that they have understood
the issues related to this subject and is like a
matrix of ignorance. This evening, in a very
limited time allotted to me, I will try to
present a summary and analysis of the root
causes, as I see them.

PAPER PRESENTED BY RASHID MUGHAL

When we come
together at seminars such as this to
collectively examine where the roots of
terrorism reside, we are really indulging in an
intellectual exercise in futility. Unless you
and I are seriously willing to look in the
mirror and point our accusing finger at the real
culprit, which is my self, chances are we
will remain as toothless as the bulldog called
the United Nations. The self that I am referring
to is made up of you and I together.
