Dear Arif / Jawaid,
I read your thoughts and you have identified the problem (most of
Pakistanis are aware of this), but in my opinion the solution presented (cutting
the expenses on defense) is based on emotions and not on the facts. For a
moment, consider that Pakistan will not spend the money on defense, do you think
this money will be available downstream to nation for its prosperity?
- certainly not.
I invite you to think over it again. If you have the resources, focus
your energy where it will be fruitful. You are a group of intellectuals,
think of those golden virtues which are lacking in Pakistanis (leaders and
public) and thus differentiate Pakistan from other developed nations (it is
certainly far more than defense expense). Once you identify those virtues,
second phase will be to make a plan on how to develop those in Pakistanis.
Regards
Azher
